- About the Package
The tours of manu cultural zone for 4 days, begins in Cusco passing the Cloud Forest, Paucartambo and Pilcopata where we will camp, the next day we will have breakfast in the same Pilcopata Lodge, then we will continue to Atalaya enjoying a beautiful landscape, in the afternoon we will arrive to the Paititi Lodge where we will spend the second night.
On the third day we will visit the parrot clay lick and Cocha Maravilla, then we will return to the Paititi Lodge where we will spend the third night, the next day we will have the last breakfast in the jungle to return to Cusco and finish the tours.
- Itinerary
We will pick you up from your hotel in our bus between 5:30am and 6:00am and then we will depart from Cusco, ascending through the Andes to the Paucartambo area. On the way we will visit the funerary towers of Ninamarca and then we will arrive at Ajanaco located at 3600m. From this point we will descend through the mysterious cloud forest full of beautiful orchids, heliconias and primitive ferns. We will make a stop and with some luck we will be able to witness the cock of the rocks in its mating ritual.
Likewise, there will be possibilities to observe the umbrella bird, trogons, quetzals or orioles among others. The spectacled bear also lives in this area. At dusk we will arrive at the town of Pilcopata. We will spend the night in our Manu Green Hostel with bathrooms and showers.
After breakfast we will walk to explore the jungle and on the way we will visit a coca plantation, varieties of birds, plants and monkeys so we can experience wildlife. We will then arrive at the port of Atalaya, where we will take a boat and navigate the upper Madre de Dios River.
On the way we will stop and walk along a trail and have the opportunity to take a bath in the hot springs of the area, then we will continue sailing towards our lodge. After lunch, we will go to explore the jungle and raft in the Machuhuasi lagoon. This area is full of life and we will be able to observe species such as: shanshos, monkeys, reptiles, dwarf caimans, capybaras and tapirs. If luck is with us it will be possible to see many of them. At night we will do an interesting night walk to crown the day. Finally we will spend the night in our Paititi Lodge with private bathrooms and showers.
Very early in the morning, we will start sailing for about 25 minutes to the parrot clay lick (Clay wall with minerals), where we will be able to observe several species of parrots. After that visit we will have breakfast. The rest of the morning we will spend walking inside the forest, arriving at the private wonder lagoon, from a platform, we will be able to see a great variety of birds, monkeys or dwarf caimans. Then we will return to our hostel to have lunch and rest. In the afternoon and at night we will walk trails to see wildlife full of insects, frogs, spiders, etc. Overnight at the Paititi Lodge.
After a delicious breakfast, we will return by boat from Paititi to Atalaya, where the bus will be waiting for us to return to Cusco, passing again through the cloud forest. We will arrive in Cusco around 7:00 pm, leaving behind the exuberant jungle and Andean landscapes.
