The walk on the snow-capped Ausangate is one of the most famous in Cusco for being one of the most important Apus of the Inca era. This walk is done above 4600 m.s.n.m. throughout your journey. The Ausangate, snowy now visited by thousands of tourists, on a tour that lasts 4 days, has beautiful landscapes; a combination between glacial lagoons and typical high altitude fauna. On this tour you will be able to observe snow-capped mountains such as Mariposa, Callangate, Colquecruz, Campa, etc. Many of these Glaciers are over 6,000 meters above sea level. they are little frequented by climbers.
- Itinerary
We schedule the departure early to be able to make some stops on the route, we will pass through nice typical mountain towns on the heights of Urcos, and the panorama offers us the spectacular view of the entire Vilcanota mountain range. After traveling about 5 hours, we arrive at Ocongate, an important population of great historical significance (Lord of Qoyllorrity) and after 30 minutes we arrive at the town of Tinky, which is located at 3850 meters above sea level, thus arriving at a nice and typical lodging where we will spend the night. evening. This is the place from where we will start our walk.
After breakfast we begin the walk towards a pass of 4500 m.s.n.m. to then continue along the slopes of the snow-capped Ausangate towards the Upis camp. On the way you will see lagoons of different colors without leaving aside the llamas and alpacas.
We will continue a brisk tour where we will be able to observe the natural reserve of huallatas and vizcachas and other wild animals of the place. This day you will arrive early at the camp to enjoy the thermal baths and an exquisite pachamanca.
This day we will walk for approximately 3 hours, then we will have lunch in Tinki and then board the bus back to the city of Cusco.
